Corporations have set ambitious goals to become net-zero energy consumers, which means that the energy they use will be equal to the amount of renewable energy created on their campuses. In 2019, Google was the global leader in corporate renewable energy procurement, signing contracts for 2.7 gigawatts of capacity. Amazon, Microsoft, and Facebook were also big buyers. Meanwhile, Adobe has made huge shifts to produce more renewable energy on-site. As of 2018, Apple’s campuses have been powered by 100% renewable energy.
