In an attempt to increase nuclear proliferation, Russia is working on a new kind of energy plant that can float and move with currents, thereby withstanding certain harsh environments. A barge called the Akademik Lomonosov is loaded with two nuclear reactors and in 2020 will produce enough energy to power 100,000 homes in the nearby town of Pevek.
