In 2019, China’s first cloned cat was “born.” Sinogene, a Beijing-based commercial pet cloning company, sequenced, cloned, and delivered a cat named Garlic for a 22-year-old businessman. Pet cloning is an unregulated business, and while it wasn’t the first pet to be cloned in the world, it was the first for China. The United States and South Korea are other existing markets for pet cloning.
