In 2018, professors at Technion Israel Institute of Technology and researchers at McAfee independently found flaws in Microsoft’s Cortana voice assistant.

When security testing firm Checkmarx conducted penetration testing on Alexa, it inadvertently allowed potential hackers to make Echo listen continuously, rather than only when prompted by a user. (Amazon fixed the vulnerability as soon as it was notified.)
