In September 2017, Arizona State University astrophysicist Dante Lauretta and his team launched the OSIRIS-REx spacecraft to Bennu, an asteroid that might offer secrets about the early history of the solar system.
In January of 2020, the craft successfully completed a flyover of its designated mining site; the probe will take its sample in August and then begin its three-year journey home.
