Derek is a current MBA candidate at NYU Stern. Prior to Stern, he worked as a Machine Learning Engineer at various defense contractors and most recently Capital One. He has worked in all different domains of Machine Learning and some of his accomplishments include a research publication on the application of machine learning in microbial detection and the development of novel approaches to preventing financial fraud. He holds his Bachelor of Science from the University of Virginia in Chemical Engineering with a specialization in Biochemical Engineering and a Masters of Science in Computer Science from the University of Florida.
